Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai is located in the Great Rift Valley, south of Lake Natron and is the only active volcano in Tanzania. You will hike with an expert guide to reach the summit of the volcano. The trek is very challenging, in fact, the ascent climbs strictly straight on slippery slopes, covered with ash and friable rocks, with considerable elevation gain. Due to the scorching daytime heat and lack of water, the climb takes place at night to reach the summit at the first light of day, when dawn offers the wonderful scenery of a dreamlike, desert and remote landscape. It is advisable to wear short but also long trousers and a warm jacket because at high altitude the temperature can be cold. The access route from the northwest allows you to descend from the summit in the morning shade.
